In the far future, humanity and other sentient species have access to small, lightweight power sources that allow for the creation of massive powered armor, hulking metal exoskeletons that move with the user, greatly increasing speed, strength and stamina. Powered armor becomes the staple for even the most basically equipped soldiers in the far future.
Early powered armor was crude, yet incredibly effective, granting the user the power to break down walls, run miles without tiring, survive being hit with most conventional weapons and even tearing a person limb from limb. As time goes on, the designs become more and more sophisticated and durable, granting almost god like invulnerability and strength.
Powered armor becomes so ubiquitous in the far future that strategies are designed around it, the superiority of armor over munitions leads to the favoring of melee weapons that can cut through any armor being deployed, weapons such as powered swords or powered hammers or even highly engineered polearm type weapons. There are also types of munitions that can penetrate any armor, but they are so expensive that most military units conserve their use for a mobile fortress or trooper wielding the massive Goliath Powered Armor.
Most powered armor ranges from 12 - 36 feet tall, the standard armor of the Golden Emperor's troops stands at 40 feet, making them the outlier. Goliath Powered Armor, the rare and specially engineered constructs standing up to 75 feet tall, tower over any battle field and are invincible but to the most intense weapons.
To many of the highly advanced beings of the far far future, their armor becomes almost indistinguishable from the rest of their body, as they are so heavily augmented that they have mostly or entirely replaced themselves with synthetic components, thus their armor becomes almost a second skin or exoskeleton.
