Crystalline

One of the strangest intergalactic species, living crystal entities of unknown synthetic origin.  They are considered highly dangerous and lack an morality or logical motivation.  They are loners and lack any type of social communication, seemingly existing to consume other life and inflict maximum suffering in the process.  Crystalline entities grow slowly over thousands of years by directed liquid crystal deposits.  A blood like liquid circulates through crystalline arteries, carrying information and nutrient.  A Crystalline entity will be bound to the surface on which it grows and rooted deeply throughout the surrounding area. Similar to a plant, Crystalline entities draw water, minerals and nutrients from the surrounding areas.  Crystalline entities use a variety of super advanced technology to carry out their needs, from nanites to macro robots they are capable of synthesizing a vast array of technology.  If another organic entity is captured by a Crystalline, it will be rooted into the crystal structure and slowly digested molecule by molecule over a hundred years while being kept alive and conscious.
